Going crazy with electrical

Post by drizzie27 »

So i got my 3G alt going great. Prior to this my fuel gauge along with everything else didnt work on my instrument panel. Only my right turn signal light works no matter which light i put in it so i know the bulbs are good. Voltmeter stays just left of Center on the D. No oil or temp gauges work. And i tested my fuel gauge by using a circuit tester and jabbed the orange wire coming from the sending unit and turned the key to ON and the light pulsed and moved the needle slowly but once i took the point off it slowly went back down. And my BRAKE Warning light stays on all the time.

Voltage regulator on the back of the instrument cluster? I was going crazy with my fuel gauge, and thought it might be a problem with my instrument cluster, or the Instrument Panel Voltage Regulator (IPVR). It wasn't; I actually had a cracked fuel float in the tank. But to get back on your problem, you might test the voltage regulator on the back of the instrument cluster. Although this link is specific to the fuel sensor and gauge, there's also a basic test for the IPVR here:
