Re: High Beams
Yes. High beam switch is a floor button on the left side of the floorboard, under the parking brake. All the bumps had them and all of the switches were in the same spot.

I think mine may be broke. My lights are only on at highbeam...when I press the floor buttons the lights turn off. Functions as an on/off switch rather than an hi/lo switchbasketcase0302 wrote:Our dimmer switches do go out from time to time.

Re: High Beams
The sealed beam headlights have 2 elements in them. One is for Low-Beam and the other is turned on for High-Beam.
Possibilities...
1. Your low beam elements in both the headlight "bulb's" have burnt out.
----- Buy new sealed beam headlights. Halogen.
2. Your switch contacts inside your dimmer switch are worn out so Low-Beam doesn't work.
----- Buy new dimmer switch and get familiar with the grime on your floor board.
3. The wiring to the Low-Beam side of your headlights is broken somewhere.
----- Break out the multi-meter and start checking for continuity.

Re: High Beams
Highly recommend not doing option #1 unless you've ran a headlight upgrade on the truck. Far too many folks here have found out the hard way. Otherwise now you've made another problem to deal with. The halogen bulbs simply pull way...too much amperage for the existing wiring to support.PhantomoftheBumpside on Sun Jan 08, 2012 5:26 am

Oops...
Basketcase is right. I edited to add solutions between problems after I posted and got distracted.
I started with "Halogen is not your friend here." started deleting because it was vague, was going to change to "NO Halogen" got sidetracked, and apparently submitted the changes after forgetting what the heck I was talking about.

Re: High Beams
Yes, you Sir would be one of the lucky ones! The amperage is almost always too high for the existing wiring causing the circuit breaker in the switch to trip in and out. Really a pain, (especially when you're driving at 60+ MPH and the headlight are flashing on and off! Please by all means ask me how I know this!Whateverman on Mon Jan 09, 2012 1:05 am
i've been running halogens in my truck for 20 years and never had a problem because of em.... but maybe i'm just lucky

On a side note: there was a guy here selling a "headlight harness upgrade". He has long since moved to greener pastures leaving the "market" here for this wide open, (I always thought he charged too much for the kit to start with as I built mine for 1/2 his price). There are a few more sources for the kit, LMC I believe is one.

Re: High Beams
good too know, but weird ,cuz i've never had even the slightest bit of trouble, even with the hacked up by a previous owner wiring harness (the drivers side headlight terminal had some ancient connector with get this-
CLOTH
insulated wire poorly spliced in )that i was forced to use until recently because i gotta a little too rambunctious and started chopping away at my original wiring harness during a tear down.....
if yer not good enough to be good, its good to be lucky i guess

Do they reproduce the high beam button switches on the floor board on the drivers side on a 67 F100?

But any local parts store should have this dimmer switch, it's a common one used on many different Ford cars and trucks through the years.
