I recently replaced the under dash harness on Rusty and now I have no fire to the points.
The reason for replacing it was to get rid of the original one that had burnt.
I got a good used one from member mk (thanks again mk).
The burnt harness had a big jumper wire spliced in from the back of the ignition harness to the harness going out to the coil/points.
Then someone put an aftermarket resister inline out under the hood next to the coil.
How can I repair this correctly instead of the cobbled up way the previous owner did?

Check the harness you got for a pink wire. That one is your resistor wire. If both are used in series you wouldn't get enough current to the points. That would be a possible cause for the points to not work.
