Groomsmen Portrait

Post by MaxKlinger »

Hey folks,

I thought you'd appreciate this. This September my buddy got married. Naturally, I drove my Bumpside to the wedding. When the photographer was doing a shoot with all of us groomsmen, I asked her if she could do a portrait of all of us with my truck. Truly fitting for a hick-town group like this. :D

Out of this group, only two us are single now. I ain't in a rush, but if I ever get married someday I'll have to make sure the truck is finally painted and clean!

I can't believe the photographer would include the electrical tower in the background.

I agree. That is odd. Seems it would have been nicer if the background were those trees to the right of truck in the picture.

I have always been told you are to fill the photo with the subject. Moving in closer would have removed the excess on each end along with by default reduce the sky above. Cool that all you guys got together for the shot though.

I think Hi Boy likes it (I like his avatar).

And now that I look at it again, I could see it as an album cover of a popular boy band of the 1990's.

Or maybe as an advertisement for the local power company.

I like it a lot! I think the power lines add a sense of reality to it that makes it funny--in a good way! Definitely a classic and uncommon photograph.

 HAHAHAHAHA! Far from it, man. If I had been in a boy band in the '90s I probably would spend more time getting laid and less time with old pickup trucks. A clumsy, 6'5", 300 lbs, balding dude like me is not good looking enough for that kind of scene anyway. My truck doesn't judge me though.

Obviously the baby blue ties were not my choice, they were the bride's choice (and she ain't my bride). And as I'm a photographer myself, I would have set up the shot very differently, probably from the front of the truck. But whatever. It's good to have a pic of my best friends from high school ten years later. We don't get all of us together very often anymore. What's important to me are the people involved, and what this truck says about who we are.
