Re: is my battery ruined
wiring mess's me up too... im messed where with a switching powersupply like the ones used in a pc and this charging sytem prolly usues something like that to achieve things...one can run a negative current that can boost the positive current, ie, +12v on the positive and -12 volts on the negative makes +24 volts, i think that's the way it goes...
im not sure but some light bulbs would light no matter what the polarity of the current... i think if the polarity is positive the wiring would burn up so im not sure if i am testing it correctly

Re: is my battery ruined
running batteries in series and parallel can be different on how to get certain voltages out of them. such as 24 volts. i think running batteries in parralel will give you 24 volts fo rtwo batteries hooked together. i think. its been a long time since i did any of that stuff. but eachbattery should have aisolator in th ewiring to that battery. with a diode to stop flow out of the battery and into one of the other batteries.

Batteries hooked in Parallel have the same voltage as the battery but will increase the amperage output (longer drain time/higher output of amps if needed).fordman wrote:running batteries in series and parallel can be different on how to get certain voltages out of them. such as 24 volts. i think running batteries in parralel will give you 24 volts fo rtwo batteries hooked together. i think. its been a long time since i did any of that stuff. but eachbattery should have aisolator in th ewiring to that battery. with a diode to stop flow out of the battery and into one of the other batteries.
Batteries hooked in Series will add the Voltages up, more batteries more voltage (for 12V batteries - 24V, 36V, 48V, 50V, etc...).
NO isolators, diodes, etc, are needed to hook batteries together in either configuration...

Re: is my battery ruined
thanks for the help with that. i couldnt remember for sure which way was what. the didoes would be to keep the camper batteries from being used to start and run just the truck. or the truck from using the camper batteries.

Re: is my battery ruined
my understanding is the diodes stop the batteries discharging by limiting flow in one direction and that your solenoid controlled what baterry is being used...
in my case oine battery was ruined and the fridge failsafe allowed the crank to be drained whislt the ruined accesory battery sap all the power from the system.... then they where awfully low on water too...

Re: is my battery ruined
Once the plates get exposed to air from being low on water the battery is pretty much toast, as the plates oxidize from being exposed to the air and this stops that part of the plate from working...robertbruce wrote: then they where awfully low on water too...
