Help with tail light harness

Post by billbates40 »

I put a new bed on my truck. The wires slipped down on my test drive and got melted on my exhaust. Can someone take a picture of their wires at the point where they connect to the tail light harness?

the wires are color coded. black with a red stripe is back up lights. brown is tail lights and goes to both sides as do the back up light wire. yellow is for the left side (drivers side) of the truck and green is for the ( passenger side of the truck). there may be two plugs under there to plug it togther. i cant remember. the one i was under the other day had all the plugs cut off and wired together. does that help?

Yeah, thanks fordman. I went to the boneyard and got a harness. I'll just replace my harness, but the idea of just wire them together could just be the answer.

when i was messing with my bump trailer this weekend. i almost went crazy because it wasnt working correctly. it would have really saved me time just to run new wires to the tail light sockets. if they wouldnt have been rigged up too. then the mismatched bulbs didnt help matters either. i do like the modular idea of the seperate harnesses. but that would only be good if you are replacing them. other wise. theres no real reason to have a plug between the bed harness and the tail light harness.
