68 Ranger under dash harness in a 67 ranger?
Hello everyone I have a 67 f100 ranger and the under dash harness is butchered rather badly. I also have a 68 Ranger with the same options and a good harness. Has anyone done this electrical swap? I know the temp controls and such are different in the 67s. I was wondering if its worth doeing the swap or should I find one out of a 67?

As long as the donor truck has the same instrument cluster (gauges vs. idiot lights) as your truck, I really don't think it would be that big a deal. The only other thing I can think of off the top of my head that might be different is (as you mentioned) the heater blower motor switch...and I wouldn't think it would be too difficult to figure that out.

If you can get ahold of the electrical schematics for that truck that would help. I believe you can have a direct fit even though the wire colors are different. I don't belive ford made that big of a change with those models until later. There's a place in So. Cal. that has the schematics. Mine was pretty cheep at the time.

Found out its not so easy a swap afterall. Ignition switch plug is different and there are more plugs goeing into the right side of the firewall behind the glove box than there is on the 68s 67s have 5 plugs 68s have 3 apparently. So ended up trying to patch the old harness didn't go so well so now pokeing around the forums!

Since you mentioned five plugs on your harness, I'll assume you've got an early 67 (pre dec 66 build) four gauge harness. Here's a pic comparing the early 67 four gauge harness (L) to a 68/69 four gauge harness (R)...(middle harness is 67-69 two gauge harness format)

The early 67 4 gauge harness has a 'bridge' piece but it still ends up with the same configuration of RH end plugs as the later harness, so the 68 harness will work. The heater connection (brown wire) plugs into the later harness without any trouble. As you noted, you'll have to use the 68 ignition switch and will also have to change the plug for the brake switch. It would be best to use the 68 cluster wiring as well if you have it, otherwise make sure the colors match at the cluster/ main harness plug.

Re: 68 Ranger under dash harness in a 67 ranger?
I ended up taking the buchered harness out of a different parts truck and simply repaired the 67 harness Got all the running lights working just need to figure out the dash lights and the turn indicators. They work on the outside of the truck but the yellow arrows don't blink. I'll poke around at the harness diagrams until I figure it out I guess thanks for the info though
