I've got the whole assembly along with the round plastic grommet that goes in the hole in the hood to protect the wire from chafing. First one I've ever seen...

Bobby, my '70 F250 has one... well... err...what's left of one. All's that left is the bulb socket attached to the inner cross brace of the hood and dangling wires that flap in the breeze. Don't y'all just Love PO's "improvements"!?!

Nice find you've got there and one that's on my "Round To It" list...someday...

I have not had it on an operational vehicle. Got it off of one of my spare hoods. I suspect it is a mercury filled socket that completes the circuit when the hood is in the open position.

My `69 has one. Not sure how it works, not that it does anymore (socket got rusted out years ago).

That is how they work, with Mercury inside the socket part to switch them on when the hood is open.
