Re: Truck want start NEED HELP
I have tried both ways. I am going to try to go today or tomorrow and recheck all the cables. i Have a couple of diagrams that will help.If the starter is completely shot would it not even attempt to crank at all? Because i had replaced the starter a couple of years ago.(Truck doesn't get ran but 3-4 times a year) but i am going to Rebuild whole truck only 72,000 original miles.

One way to know for sure, is to remove the starter and bench test it by grounding it, then "touching" the electrical post on it with a hot cable hooked to a known "good" battery. If it's "good", it'll spin over. Do NOT bolt the hot lead to the starter motor, just touch it with the hot lead from the battery, otherwise you'll "weld" them together. Ask me how I know...htrooster4 wrote:If the starter is completely shot would it not even attempt to crank at all?

when i have starters and alternators tested. i use two different stores and get two different tests. one from each store. that way if both say bad then it is bad. if both say good then its good. when one says its bad and one says its good i go to a third and even a fourth place to have them checked.

Thanks 390Bump!
I was able to get my truck out of the driveway using the hotwiring info.
Now to figure out why my ignition switch isn't working.

these switches and the soelnoids go bad. or it could be a loose wire. or a burnt one.
