No headlights
I know that this topic has been covered. I came acrossed it a few days ago. i cant seem to find it again. I have found others but, didnt really help me.On my 1969 f100, My dome light, dash gauge lights, brake lights and one parking light works. Headlights do not work. i have replaced the light switch followed all the wires, grounds seemed to be ok. what am I missing? would any of this have to do with the fuse panel down on the fire wall? These are not the headlights i just purchased (angle eyes) i had mentioned in a previous post. Just trying to get it to pass inspection. Turn signals show up on dash but dont blink. Any help is GREATLY APPRECIATED!

Re: No headlights
Check the dimmer switch some times they go bad
as for the turn signals check the flasher can,
it might also be the ground, try grounding the lights right to the battery.

Re: No headlights
Dimmer switch? where is that located? I replaced the 3 prong headlight clip, unhooked the ground right by the headlights and cleaned them and installed a new headlight switch. Still nothing. My parking lights work now, gauge lights, dome and brake lights. I am gonna replace the turn signal cam tomorrow. I even thought that possible both headlights were just bad so I went and bought another one just to see and still nothing.

Re: No headlights
I know what a dimmer switch was but had a brain fart. So a dimmer switch could cause headlights not to work?

Re: No headlights
yes it is probably the dimmer switch. the headlight wiring goes from the dash switch to the foot switch and then out to the headlights. the flasher can is all that is needed to make the turn signals flash. the cam only cancels the turn signals when the wheel is turned. i would only replace it if the turn signals or brake lights dont work. you can always manually cancel the turn signals during the inspection.

Re: No headlights
With that said, do you mean you replaced the sockets that actually hook onto the headlight bulbs themselves? Those wires could have been be put in the wrong place causing an issue!I replaced the 3 prong headlight clip,
A voltage meter or test light is a very valuable tool here, test each wire at the headlight socket for power / then go backwards tracing the power source.

2nd what Fordman said about the cancel cam (it won't stop the turn signals from working-just stop them from automatically turning themselves off).
Here's the wiring schematic for your truck that might give you a better idea how they work:

Re: No headlights
i was gonna say, just get an antique registration and you wont have to worry about an inspection, but looks like you got it plus headlights are a good thing when you need them.
