70 ignition switch

Post by 69f-100 »

does anyone know if the wiring is the same from a 69 ignition switch to a 70. the connector on my 69 is garbage, so i bought a 70 ignition switch and connector. was just wondering if the wiring would be the same?

they should contain the same wires that come and go from the switch to the wiring. you do not want to cut and splice the resistor wire. what do you need. the pinouts for the wire going into the plug? will pictures help? i could do some comparison pictures. i think i have both years of harnesses here to take pictures of.

the resistor wire will have to be just taken out of your old plug with a pick. it has a tab on it to release the bullet connector. you will then have to cut off or take that connector off and use the 70-72 spade end on it. spade ends can be bought. but you want one with a tab on it so it will lock into your new plug. i'll try to get soem pictures in a little bit. i have to find a 70-72 wiring harness.
