Quick Question: What is the correct size battery for a 1972 F-250 with a 360ci?

Should be a Group 35 BCI... they have changed the groups size/names from the past... Here is the listing from NAPA. http://www.napaonline.com/Search/Result ... tk=Keyword

:yt: I have a Napa Legend in my 68, had no problems with it. Always gets me going, even during a hard start.

Original would have been a 24F, which is about an inch longer than a 35. Optional would be a 27F which is about an inch longer than a 24F.

Marine batteries are normally a "deep cycle" battery and are not designed to be used as a starting battery. Deep cycle batteries are designed to be able to be drained before recharging. Starting batteries are designed to always be fully charged. Draining a "starting" battery will shorten it's life considerably.

Starting batteries are expected to put out a high load quickly and then be recharged right away. Deep cycle batteries are expected to slowly trickle energy over a long period of time. In a pinch you can use a marine battery to start a motor. I have done it.

When I had my boat, it had a convectional automotive battery for the starting/charging system and a deep cycle battery for the "house". The house battery powered all the house lights, refrigerator, bilge pump and so on. The starting battery was strictly used for the engine. They were separated, I could run down the house battery and still have a fully charged battery for the engine. Most RV's are set up this way.

Batteries cost to much to use them in such a way that shortens their life span.

Thank you answered my question. In the rvs (Travel Trailers, FIfth wheels) they use one bat to run acc and generator. Convertor charges them. Well ill be going to the automotive store to find a batt for the truck sometime this week.
