"ignition switch removal" now "turn key and nothing"

Post by Zorm »

Ok, the switch its self is not hard, how do I take the key section out? or should I just get a new key peice. Bought a new on from Vatozone and is did not come with the key section.

Ok, replaced the whole ignition switch because it was kinda flakey, I could wiggle the key and get the truck to start. Now, with with everything connected, I turn the the new key switch and don't get anything :x no noise, no nothing.

I know it might a fuse, a fusable link or could it be my starter sol?

I have no manual for this truck yet so any thoughts would be helpful :) thanks

Disconnect the battery. Then put in your key and turn it to the left to the 'accessory' position. Take a paperclip and poke it into the small hole and push to release the cylinder. Then turn the key to the left and pull it out.

When you turn the key on, can you get your radio or turn signals or anything to work? That would tell us that you're getting power in the 'run' position. If the starter solenoid isn't hitting, maybe your neutral safety switch is not working properly. If it's an automatic transmission, try moving the shifter between different gears or at least wiggle it a bit while turning the key to see if that works.

key may be worn . or the inside of the lock dirty. wiggle the key to get it into acc position. it might work.
