cam change

Post by R.Smith »

OK, What am I going to need to install the new cam? So far my list includes..

Cam
Lifters
timing chain set
timing cover gasket.
Intake gasket
crank seal
rtv
antifreeze

I know I'm forgetting something and will have to stop half way thru and go to the PepZone, which really pisses me off. Anything I forgot?

390. The cam lube supposedly comes with the cam (comp)so I didn't include it. Valve cover gaskets are rubber so I'll reuse them...for about the 5th time. They have yet to leak on me. I use only Motorcraft filters. I plan on using Rotella 15-40 and Lucas additive, unless you know of something better.

I'm gonna need a water pump gasket too.

All of the new cam additives are about the same.
Water pump gaskets will be included in the timing cover set (timing cover set comes with crank seal, timing cover gask, fuel pump gask, and water pump gask).

2 cans of brake cleaner and a can of Ford Blue engine paint. Might as well make it look nice too. :)
