Ill toss the birds nest in a couple weeks when the baby birds leave.
Today I replaced the heater hoses with new ones and hooked everything up. I also installed the dip stick tube for the c6 and hooked up the speedometer cable. I also ran a wire from the starter to the relay, changed out the starter relay and horn relay on the fender. Made a stud to hold down the air cleaner, and replaced a damaged section of fuel line and also replaced the rubber part of the fuel line right after it exits the cab. I finally have my hood installed also. It is the hood I saved off the 70 parts truck. Headers are installed now too.
Whats left to buy?
Lines to make the oil cooler lines between the C6 and radiator.
Shift and kickdown levers for the C6
Dentside rod between the gas pedal and carb.
Belts
P/S pump and hoses.
Oil, transmission fluid, antifreeze.
Sender harness.
Radiator hoses.
Whats left to do?
Swap out fuel tank for the rust free one from the 70, and remove the line that would have went to the charcoal canister on my truck. Also install the matching fuel cap and filler neck with the 70 tank.
Run exhaust.
Install distributor and coil and spark plug wires.
Install P/S pump and belts.
Install radiator and hoses and fan.
Install shift and kickdown levers on C6, reinstall valve body. Fill with fluid.
Fill motor with oil and cooling system with water and antifreeze.
Install dash cluster.
Install battery and fire it up for the first time.

Today I changed out the fuel tank for the one from the 70 parts truck, also changed out the filler neck and cap. Then I got the bottom radiator hose on and trimmed the upper one a bit so it fit better. Have to get clamps for the upper one.

I added up all my receipts today. I have $4000 total into my bump so far.

Now for some pics of Sundays progress.
I still need to get clamps for the upper radiator hose.
Next I am still getting water in the cab. The two boxed in areas are where I am getting water in, also where the wiper arm goes through the fire wall.
Engine bay side of that area, the lip between the cowl and firewall is rusted pretty bad. I wish I could pull the front clip and cut the lip off all the way across and just weld it up flat.
Funny this starts AFTER I put the motor in.
I have some polyurethane caulk I am going to try. It has stopped a few other leaks I had.
Next a picture of the baby birds.

Me likey! I can't wait to hear her run! What are you going to do for breakin? Hoe easy did those headers go into place? What problems did you have and what didn't you like about them clearance wise? I just want to know how they will fit into mine, even though I have asked before.

They went in pretty easy. What engine mounts did you use? I used the frame stands out of a dentside. You have to put the headers in from the bottom tho. I also put the headers on after I bolted in the starter, but before I wired it up. Tip I picked up during my install...tape the gasket to the header before you put them in. I used some painters tape, wrapped around to hold the gasket on. Then after I bolted the header on just ripped off the exposed tape. That way your not trying to align header, gasket, and bolt holes at the same time. The passenger header kind of comes close to the bottom lip of the passenger frame rail, so I massaged the lip with a grinder a bit just to feel better.bb429power wrote:Me likey! Forget using a socket to put the bolts in, 3/8 12 pt wrench was the only way.
Today I cleaned up the engine compartment. Removed the birds nest too. Stuck the battery under the hood and put the alternator belt on. Im at a stopping point now till I get a bit more money. I keep forgetting to crawl under the truck and get a measurement between the yoke on the rearend and the transmission to see if I can find a one piece driveshaft that is close in length.

Got the gas pedal hooked to the carb today and the return spring on. i also went to the junkyard and got p/s lines, a clip for one of the heater controls and a coil wire.

Transmission lines made up and put in, and got my ignition coil. Few more things off the list. Now its just transmission parts, p/s pump, oil, transmission fluid, a few vacuum lines, exaughst. Then I can hear it run.
