I've been invaded

Post by 69rangerf100 »

ok when i got home around midday from running errands i pull into my driveway and see all these little flying things coming from my front porch. so i start looking around and the are coming out of the corner there are little holes in the siding looked them up online and they are carpenter ants.

Question?

Does anyone know how to kill them and eliminate the nest

Man, I don't have carpenter ants, but I've got fleas something fierce right now. Crazy thing is, I don't have any pets! The only thing I could think of is that there is always this darn possum that comes into the yard, craps everywhere, and disappears, so he must be bringing the fleas. I finally had to call an exterminator. They came today, so we'll see if that worked or not.

Good luck with your bugs!

Yea, call an exterminator. The stuuf you get at a hardware store to kill them will only make them fat and happy. Might be time to have someone come out and check the porch for damage as well.

If you go down to the hardware store or farm supply store, pick up a bottle of good ol' "Ortho Fly Killer D." Mix it with water and a little sugar and spray it around where the ants are. You can also take a pint jar that is clean and has a good lid. Fill it about 1/2 full of sugar and a tablespoon of the Ortho. Shake it up good and sprinke it around your property. The Ortho is also safe around pets. The other thing you could do for ants is mix 50/50 icing sugar and borax and sprinkle that around. The ants take it back to their hotel, show the queen what they have, she croaks and the rest of the ants leave town. Simple but it works. Happy hunting!

yeah the only thing is they are in the siding so what i have read from google is that i have to drill 1/8 holes and puff the borac acid in the hole to kill the nest. sounds like fun not

I had that happen at my house once only mine turned out to be termites. They bored holes thru the siding and were flying around. The termite exterminater told me them call it "swarming" and they due it in the spring. Good luck.
