Adding power brakes

Post by 71f100anddodgemagnum »

okay i was wondering on my 360 if their is a vacuum port for me to add power brake booster and master cylinder on my 2100 carburetor.../?? i saw that O-ryllies has one for 100 bucks that fits all motors from 1968 to 1976 or something like that... then all i have to do is add a vacuum line to the carb and if i dont i will convert to a after maket 4 barr.... that has a second full vacuum port.

the brake booster vacuum comes directly from the intake manifold. it should be on the passenger side just to the slight rear of the carb. is the main vacuum port. if you have a aftermarket intake you can remove any vacuum plug on the intake on use that port as your vacuum source.

Don't go the above route route!

If you just need the fitting I'm sure that Fordman might have one, if not PM me.

Dang, is that vacuum fitting really that rare? :hmm:

Do you have the brackets for mounting the booster to the firewall?? :?

I'm about 99.9999999% positive they won't come with the booster/master cylinder from O'Reilly's or any other parts store.

Need brackets, unless going the hydroboost route.

i cant confirm this yet. but i saw one of our trucks with a newer style early 90's booster and master on it. it didnt use the brackets. it was bolted on to the fireewall /brake bracket somehow. i have yet to check it out and confirm how it was done yet.

I did this to my truck recently, yes you will need the brackets, but you will need the straight pass thru rod brackets, not the z-bar type. All the oreillys are the straight through type boosters. These are alot easier to set up and maintain, so I was happy to go to the junkyard and get the right stuff. The ebay brackets are the right ones, but you will also need the screw in pedal adapter to connect the end of the rod to the pedal, this is also how you adjust them.
