240 header- starter

I see some of you guys using the headman header have had to switch to a mini starter i was wondering if some have done it with the fullsize starter.
What mini starter did you use if you did have to use one?

I just used the stock one.

I split the headers into 2. Just have to cut the flange in the center.

I do have a problem with heating up the starter after a long drive in the summer. So I would suggest building a simple heat sheild. You could use a peice of Aluminum to make it easier to bent and cut.

No clearance problems.

Didn't see where headers are diccussed other than here?
I just spent the day trying to replace my starter, had no idea it was going to be such a pain. Former owner welded the headers, no flange to the exhaust. The starter was in prision, had to cut the exhaust after collector, unbolt and slide down the crossmember and bend trany lines to get it out.. I can't do this every time I need to pull the starter!!!
So what headers, Hedmen? Or would I still have to split those? And don't the mini starters fail quicker? I have 67 F250 with a 390

I have the Hedman on mine, and would recommend against one for a 240/300 in a Bump. They dont fit correctly. I had to cut a chunk out of the frame to get it on.
When I had the starter go out, I had to take the header all the way off the head, and loosen the collector bolts. Then I had to pry an opening to get the old one out & new one in. Just used a stock reman, no heat issues in the summer for me.

I bought the headman headers hopefully i dont have any fitment problems. I know some people have problems and some dont i will find out soon enough.

Has anyone tried the Flowtech headers, model 12540FLT standard model supposedly designed to fit properly?
