Carb Problems

Post by FordTruck »

I have a 2bb carb on mt 70 F100 302 and if you punch it'll pretty much bog out and if you don't keep the gas to the floor it'll die. But even with the gas to the floor it runs like total crap lots of smoke and just wouldn't run right but after a few seconds of too the floor it'll start to run just fine again. I've tryed tuning the carb but I can't get anywhere so I thought I'd see if I could get some help here. Also I guess I should say it dosen't have a kickdown right now if that matters. :fr:

the kickdown is for passing. it has nothing to do with how good it runs.

It is a very simple carb, get a kit and go after it.

Sounds like the choke is closing when it shouldn't.
Wire the linkage open and see if it still does it. If it runs well with the choke wired open, then you need a new choke thermostat. Or adjust the one that is on it ,if it has any adjustment left.

:yt: Spend $12 on a rebuild kit and do it to it! Like bumpside said, check the choke too.
