is there a difference between a mustang & mountaineer motor

I'm in the process of putting together a Motor from an 88 Mustang. I have an Intake, MAF sensor, computer and wiring harness from a 93 Mustang I was planning on using. I just found a 96 Mountaineer in the junk yard and was getting ready to pull the GT-40 heads and intake. beyond that is there any difference in the 5.0 from the mountaineer and the mustang 5.0 engine such as cam?

Not sure on the cam profile, you got the good parts with the heads. The exploder exhaust manifolds are some strange creatures.

The Mountaineer used cast iron GT40P heads with angled spark plugs and no AIR ports in the rear of the heads. The intakes were also a low profile. Ford used the GT40P heads to try and compensate for the low profile intake and restrictive exhaust. I believe the cams were the same.

The exhaust headers from the 5.0L HO will not work with the GT40P heads due to the angled spark plugs.
