I have a question about carb swap. I was told by a guy that you can put on a 4 to 2 barrel spacer and flip it to put a 4 barrel carb on a 2 barrel intake. He said you'll get better performance with the 4 barrel and better gas milage because you won't have the pedal to the metal all the time. Has anybody ever heard of this? I have a stock 1972 f100 302 auto. with 55,000 original miles. I was thinking of an edelbroke 600 cfm w/ electric choke because I've heard too many horror stories about the quality of Holley carbs recently.

We did it as kids in the old days, you get the BAAAAWAAAAA of a 4 barrel, but as Dragon said, you are cramming it all into the small area and it wont flow any more than it would have.
Easier to get a 4 barrel intake and actually make some power
