I noticed that the one wire coming of the ignition switch that goes to the coil (I think) gets quite hot. Not hot enough to burn my skin, but "wow, that's pretty darn hot"
Is this normal?

It's normal.
Funny thing is, the first second you grab it with your fingers it's fairly hot but grab it again or hold on to it and it's not as hot as before, like your fingers sucked the heat out of it.
I did some calculations awhile ago and the power dissipated from that resistance wire is around 25 Watts.
