Aux tank fuel filler hose

I split the hose trying to remove it (dry rotted) and I can imagine that it will be hard to find a replacement. Am I correct ?

I'm not even sure where a guy could get a new one...
I wanna put a second aux tank on the p/s on my CS and that's one of the things I need as well.

LMC Catalog Page 85. It says for an F100 but the picture looks just like what I took off of my 71 F250 aux tank.

A local shop recently replaced the one on my '67... not sure what they used, but said they had to order a special hose rated for fuel. I expect they used one for a later model? The only difference I noted that makes me uncomfortable is the original had some kind of metal shield to protect it from rubbing the bed or something, whereas they chose not to reinstall or recreate this shield.

Hey Mike...

I removed one from the '71 CS, it was hard as steel, but wasn't any good.
There wasn't any steel gaurd or anything...
I wonder if someone fabbed it or something.

Interesting... thanks for the info. The one from my 67 looked original, and was pretty dryrotted. Same as yours... super hard and split to heck.

I should have taken pictures of the guard... it was interesting looking. Live and learn...

No problem... only problem with their site is it seems you have to know the part #. I could go look it up, but I'm feeling lazy right now. I'm in the basement, and my shop manuals are in the garage.

I appreciate the info. guys. It sure seems like someone would make a hose for something else that would work. However, that 2.25 in dia. is larger than most I've seen. With it being squeezed flat between the bed and frame, it sure needs something to keep it from rubbing a hole in the hose. It will be months and months before I get it back together so I have some time to look.

mike are you talking about the in bed cover for the filler that sits above the belt line?

anyone ever thought about fabbing in extra fillers for the opposite side so as it wouldn't matter what bay was open at the gas station you could slide in and not worry about the side your tank was on?

i guess that could be done. it would take some extra pipe to get to the other side of the truck as well as a t of some sort and a hose and neck. unless you wanteed to just run the aux tank to the pasenger side and keep the cab tank on the drivers side. that might be easier.

Naw... I'm talking about a metal shield thing that actually wrapped around the filler hose itself, and most likely went between the bed and the hose or the tank and the hose where it gets mashed in there. I'm thinking it was there to keep the bed from rubbing through the hose or something. Perhaps someone can confirm? Overall, it's kind of a bad design the way that thing got crammed in there.

i dont think one was ever put in from the factory. but im not an expert on this subject.
