if you know basic circuit board wiring and soldering. you could go that route maybe back it with a painted piece of metal.

even the originals were plastic junk. they are made to break so they can be a replaceable ford only item. you can use a different one. just roll down the window.

Thought I would add to this. The Peterson switch is available from JCW, NAPA or most any other source. It is a very good and sturdy unit. LMC sells a switch that is chrome and about half the price of the peterson switch, so I would question the quality, although I have not seen nor inspected one of those units.
