tailgate cap or top rail protection

Will the tailgate protector (to fit over the top edge) for a 73-79 fit a 67-72? I'm scuffing up the top of the gate, so I'd like to put one of the aluminum or stainless protector or caps on mine. Seems like the 73-79 tailgate caps and even the 73-79 caps for the top edge of the bedsides would fit, the sheetmetal profile looks pretty similar.

I have seen 73-79 advertised in JC Whitney, but figure I could probably get one local if I look hard enough. Anyone know of some suppliers?

Don't take me for certain, but I believe they might work. I could measure my tailgate on my 71 and compare it to the neighbor's 75 if you need me to. Just PM me if you think that would help.

With what I see, I am almost sure they would work. Im not sure they would match perfectly, but I think they are close enough to work, but there may be a small gap in a spot or two under the cap.

They will fit I just got one about 2 weeks ago from the junkyard. I pulled it off of a 73 and then put it on a 67-72 tailgate. I know that 73 tailgates are diffrent but dont some 73 trucks have the same tailgates as us? Anyways it will work.

Physically the tailgates will interchgange but the body lines don't match up.
