my new truck has no color code?

Post by prime mover »

was trying to figure out what the color is but that little spot where the single digit is supposed to be is blank. I talked to the original owner on the phone before the purchase and he said is was aztec gold or something at one time but now its green and white two-tone. am I up shart creek or what?

No paint code means it's a special order, should have a D.S.O. # but it won't tell you anything, it's not a code.

If you can find a patch of it that hasn't been painted over you could try to match it. Here's a neat sight with more paint chips than you can imagine.

You can also get a "History 999" letter from ford which will tell you what color it was.

How accurate do you think this scan is for Chrome Yellow?

That's a cool color, but the yellow where I can find it on my truck is much more...yellow.

I really dig the orangish shade, though. Hm.

It really depends on your monitor and settings, should look like a school bus yellow which is on the orange side.

This may help or may not, but I have my dads old 65 stepside N.C. D.O.T
Ford it came from the factory ( yellow ) and on the warranty tag(no paint code), and it is (yellow) everywhere the repaint did not reach!

8) 8) :D
Cut ( FOUR ) pieces of an old ford truck frame that has been junked, fit them to the inside of your good frame, add weld and bolts, the leafs are now inboard, time for the (big WIDE tires)!

Oh yeah (Tubbs)
