Hello from Northeast Georgia

Post by mjhaltom »

I am glad to finally post on the forum. I have read the site from beginning to end and I must say it has cost me a lot of work productivity. It does however make me long for the weekend when I get my hands on the old bumpside. I am customizing my grandfather's 1971 LWB Custom. It currently has a 240 I6 with the 3 speed on the column, but that will change soon. I will have many questions, so I hope you guys are still willing to give advice. Take Care. :D

:hi: I wish my grandfather was still around but at least I can keep his old 72 on the road. Most of the good times we had involved getting somewhere in it.

Thanks for all the great welcome messages. The whole story is that the truck was purchased by my great uncle. He was returning from out west after being discharged from the army. He had served a couple tours in Vietnam. He was hitchhiking back home to GA from CA and stopped in Copperas Cove TX. Anyone know where that is? Anyway, he saw this truck at Cove Frod with a "today's special" sign on it and next thing he knew he was driving home. He died three years later of a stroke, and my grandfather inherited the truck. I learned to drive a stick in this thing, and itmakes me proud every time I turn the key. ...memories... sorry to be so long winded, but you see now why I am willing to sink thousands :$$: into an $800 truck. I'm actually sentimental...or insane? not sure. :hmm:

Welcome aboard! Feel free to ask any questions you may have. We're happy to help!
And as for the money part, you're not insane. Just hooked.
I haven't even really figured out what to do with my $900 truck, but I'm sure it'll run into the thousands, too!

Welcome from Florida! I purchased my bump this last may. It was delivered to and stayed in Rome GA. it's whole life. As a struggling newbie I can vouch for the boost you'll get from these guys.
