Next on my todo list :
Exaust (possibly dual it out, needs new muffler on pipe i already have)

i was just wondering if anyone could tell me if theres a part i can put on my carburator to help improve gas mileage???

The part you can put on your carb to improve mileage is mechanics wire to hold the secondaries shut. You may be able to adjust your linkage so it only gets half throttle, too Just kidding! You just aren't ever going to get that good of mileage with these trucks. Charles Jones has gotten almost 18 mpg from his '67 with a 390, if I didn't know Charles better I would've called BS on him but I know he wouldn't say it if it wasn't true.

The carb linkage thing is funny the PO of my crewcab said the truck didn't do over 45 mph and he couldn't figure out why. He said it took him like 6-7 hrs to get from LA California to LV Nevada. Trailered it home and looked at the carb linkage and it was not adjusted right and was only getting between a 1/4 and a 1/2 throttle. But he didn't give me a MPG estimate.

Nick, The advice about keeping your foot out of it from Fourtss is the main tool to getting some mileage. Get it tuned up real good and keep your foot out of it. Good luck

update.....

replaced oil, tranny fluid, and rear axle fluid, replaced muffler, exuast clamps, plugs, points, rebuilt carb.,exuast gasket (one side the other i haven''t got around to),adjusted timeing and idel, drove over 5 miles (hasn't been driving in about 14-16 years, so it enjoyed being on the road again )
Flused radiator again and put more in...i can't think of anymore right now but i have been very busy.

ok i just got to thinking..............i haven't decoded my vin number yet to know if truely the engine is a 390 so i pulled outthe vin number sat down and began to get confussed.........i've thought it was a 390 that so happened to get put in after july or so of 67 but to my surprise i think its a 352 in there! can i post my vin number and have someone else decode it for me so i don't work myself to hard?

Nick, Go ahead and post your vin and we will decode it for you. With that being said,It is unlikely the same engine that came in that truck is still in it. The only way to tell for certain is to measure the bore and stroke.

They're both FE motors, Nick. Most parts interchange. The big difference between 352s 360s, 390s and 428s are bore and stroke, although there are other differences. Other than measuring bore and stroke, I don't think there's any other way to positively ID your motor. As Charles said, chances of your truck having the original engine in it are slim, though it does happen.
