turn signal clicker
After reading flyboy2610's post about his turn signal, I realized when my signal is on I have no warning "click, click, click". I think it is a plug in unit under the dash, but where, and what does it look like? Also is it something I can pick up at an auto parts store? I'm always thinking it is to old of a truck to get small less popular parts at the local store.

If it is flashing then you don't need a new relay. I can't hear mine either. I supose if I ran quiter tires and exhaust I could.
If you want to find it is the little silver canister on the left side of the steering column under the dash. It has a two wire plug to it.

Thanks Heep, it does blink, I just don't hear anything. If I put in a new one, I should hear it click, no? They are supposed to click, right?
I remember the old cars when I was a kid and it was like "BLINK, BLINK BLINK BLINK", You know, real loud.

Yea, they click, but some are quiter then others. I am not sure why or which ones they are.
I use a heavy duty flasher in my rig. It has a smoked clear plastic cover over it. I can hear it but I have to listen really close.

Is your flasher actually attached to the back of the instrument cluster like in this diagram? (item #2)

A flasher is pretty quiet by itself, that's why they attach it to something to act as a sounding board.

My truck is a '71. The back of the dash panel is a circuit board and looks different than that. For some reason there isn't alot printed up on the '71 electrical system. I'll look to see if it is attached some how. Are you saying it needs to be attached so it works kind of like a speaker box to amplifiy the sound?

John, my 71 is loud enough to hear with the windows up. (Kinda hard when it's down but my wife says it's because the wind blows through my ears since there's nothing to stop it.)
Can't remember who, but I recall seeing one in a catalog lately that is extra loud and they also had ones that played tunes until turned off. I believe it was LMC.

To many house projects!!! I haven't had time to look at it since I started this post. Hopefully this weekend I will have time to just fart around in the garage with the truck. My fingers are crossed...

Nope. It's the flasher unit that makes the sound.rjewkes wrote:i always thought it was the lights in trhe dash that did the blink blink blinkity blinkity sound.

Well, if you are like me, you could just need to turn up the old hearing aid or buy one.71 LONG BED wrote:Thanks Heep, it does blink, I just don't hear anything. If I put in a new one, I should hear it click, no? They are supposed to click, right?
