Could someone post, or post a link to, a picture of the correct coil location for a 1972 truck? Mine made it onto the firewall at some point in its past life. I'm sure that is not the correct place for it, seems like I have seen them on the manifold, around the front drivers side?. It's a 360/auto with AC, if that makes a difference.
Thanks
Matt

The coil on the 360 in my F250 is on the drivers side front, with the bottom of the coil facing the front of the engine, and about even with the front of the valve cover. This isn't the best pic, but maybe you can make it out.

Here's some pics for reference. The coil bracket bolts on to that stepped boss on the left-front corner. The coil bracket has a corner loped off so it goes on only one way. The engine tag goes on top of the bracket pointing forward and then the bolt.

Here is mine. Not a stock manifold but the coil still mounts in the factory position.

68F250 is right about the bracket only fitting one way. It also incorperates the hook for your carb return spring.

68F250,
Thats one sweet looking engine you got there!

Thanks very much for the pix, guys. I guess I'll have to find one of those brackets, or see what I can make. Don't want anything cheesy looking in my engine bay, but not hung up on "all original" either.
I agree that is a really nice looking engine compartment, 68F250.

Thanks Sharkdance and Matt but umm, I wish that were my engine compartment.
Those are file photos of a low mile '70 that was on eBay a while ago.
Matt, you can get a coil bracket off any Ford engine, they are all the same.
