My 72 F-100 Explorer has an under hood courtesy light but the wire comes out the back of the hood and then ends. I think this truck had the hood open up on the road at one time as there is bondo at the center of the hood where it would hit the roof if that were to occur and perhaps it pulled the wire off at the same time or if not maybe someone cut it to keep the light from staying on???
Where does this wire rout and connect to after it terminates out of the hood?
Is this a switch operated light or does it operate with the opening of the hood via a mercury switch or something like that?
Any help on these questions in appreciated!

re: Under hood light wiring question
IIRC, there is a mercury switch built into the light. The wire routes along the passenger inner fender where the other wires are and connects to the big post on the starter solenoid where the battery + cable is connected.

"Yeah 220, 221, whatever it takes."
